ABOUT CASA BRISA

More than just a place to work.

Casa Brisa grew out of my own experience with remote work and a love for the little things that make people feel at home. I wanted to create something different from a traditional coworking space, where genuine hospitality, everyday comfort, and getting to know your neighbors matter just as much as having a good place to get things done.

A Little About Me

I'm Mara, founder of Casa Brisa.

My career in Operations began back in June 2004. For the next 16 years, work always meant going somewhere. Warehouse floors, offices, long commutes into Midtown Manhattan, and countless hours sitting in rush-hour traffic. Once I had children, those long days became especially difficult. Sometimes I'd go two days without seeing my kids awake.

In March 2020, I was laid off as the pandemic brought the world to a standstill. During an incredibly uncertain time, I was fortunate to find my dream job, working remotely with a team of people I genuinely loved.

I'd never imagined enjoying working from home, but with my kids just four and seven, it turned out to be one of the greatest gifts of my life. For the first time in my career, I could be home for both sunrise and sunset. I couldn't imagine going back to an office.

In May 2026, when I shared our plans to move from New York to Estepona with my employer, I learned that continuing in my role remotely wouldn't be an option. We'd prepared for that possibility financially, but I hadn't considered how much of my social life I'd be leaving behind.

Over the past six years, my colleagues had become my people. We lived all over the world, but we talked every day, laughed together, supported one another, and became genuine friends.

Meanwhile, I'd grown so comfortable working from home that I could go two weeks without leaving the house. I was connected to people all day through work, but I hadn't really been getting to know anyone in my own neighborhood.

Leaving that job made me realize just how much of my social world had existed within it.

That's What Inspired Casa Brisa

I loved the freedom of remote work. I still do. But I wanted to create somewhere we could enjoy that freedom without missing out on the everyday connections that make life feel fuller.

Not another office. Not another coworking space built around networking. More like a second living room for the neighborhood. Somewhere you can settle into your work, grab a coffee, and gradually get to know the people around you.

Maybe you end up chatting with someone in the kitchen, swapping recommendations for a local restaurant, or recognizing the person who always sits by the window. Maybe you spend the whole day quietly getting things done.

There's no forced networking or pressure to make friends. Come for the company, or come to be alone without feeling lonely.

Bring your laptop, your lunch, even your dog. Stay a few hours or the whole day. Work in whatever way suits you, with a little more human connection woven into the everyday.

Mi Casa Es Su Casa

There's really only one house rule at Casa Brisa: treat others the way you'd want to be treated. Be kind, respect the people around you, and take care of the space we share. I believe a little consideration for one another goes a long way toward making everyone feel at home.

My family and I are newcomers to Spain ourselves, and we're excited to get to know our neighbors and become part of the community. English is our first language, but we're learning Spanish together because we want to feel connected to the people and place we're lucky enough to call home. You might hear a "hello" before a "hola" for now, so bear with us. We're looking forward to practicing over coffee, sharing stories, and getting to know the neighborhood along the way.

I hope Casa Brisa becomes a familiar part of everyday life here. A place where people feel comfortable being themselves, where a friendly face is never far away, and where everyone feels just as welcome as they would in their own home.

Come as you are. Go as you please.

A place to work, feel at home, and connect with your neighbors.
